Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: Just A Few Questions

1. Friend's older brother when i was 13. He asked what we were listening to and I muttered something about "Foreigner." He laughed and said "listen to this", and put on Friend of the Devil from American Beauty. I was instantly hooked.

2. I didn't have time to be surprised. No expectations going in; had never heard them before.

3. Furthest thing from disappointment imaginable.

4. COWBOY JUNKIES. Saw them for the 1st time just a couple months ago. Have loved the CJ's on disc for a long time but was not expecting them to be as great in concert as they were. Michael Timmins' guitar jamming especially impressed...he did a gritty, extended solo on a tune from their new album that any DeadHead would love and would have made Jerry proud. And of course, Margo was splendid in voice and on the eyes.
(Can you imagine if she had been w/the Dead in the '70's instead of Donna?)
